The Tie of the Locked Room
The Tie of the Locked Room is a mystery novel by Agatha Christie, published in 1939. It tells the story of a wealthy family who gather at a country house for a weekend celebration, only to find that one of their number is missing from the locked room. The other guests are all suspects, and as the weekend progresses, the reader is taken on a thrilling journey of deduction and revelation. The book is renowned for its complex plot and engaging characters, and it remains one of the most popular mysteries of all time.
Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a mysterious locked room. No one knew its purpose or the reason for its existence. One day, a young archaeologist named Emily stumbled upon this room while exploring the village. She noticed that the door had been carefully constructed to look like an ordinary wooden door, but it was obvious that it was not. The handle was made of some unknown metal that shimmered in the sunlight, and the door itself was much heavier than it appeared.
Emily approached the door cautiously, her heart racing. She could feel the secrets that lay behind that door, and she was determined to find out what they were. She grasped the handle and turned it slowly, feeling the weight of the door as it began to open with a creaking sound. As the door swung inward, a draft of cool air blew against her face, and she could feel the presence of someone or something behind her.
She stepped inside the room, her heart still racing. The room was dark and musty, with cobwebs hanging from the corners and dust covering everything. She could barely make out the details of the room through the darkness, but she could feel its secrets. She moved closer to the center of the room, where she thought the tie might be located.
As she drew nearer, she could see a small, dark object hanging from the ceiling. It was the tie of the locked room. She reached up and touched it gently, feeling its strange texture and smelling its musty odor. She knew that this tie held the secrets of the room, and she was determined to find out what they were.
Emily began to untie the tie, feeling its resistance as she tugged at it. Suddenly, she felt a draft of air behind her, and she turned around to see a tall, shadowy figure standing in the doorway. The figure was dressed in a long robe that flowed around it like a wave, and its face was hidden in the shadows. Emily felt her heart sink as she realized that this was not someone she had ever seen before.
"What are you doing here?" the figure said in a deep, guttural voice. Emily could feel its anger and menace as it spoke. She backed away from the figure, feeling its presence like a cold hand on her spine.
"I...I found this tie and I wanted to know its secrets," Emily said, her voice trembling. She could feel her heart racing as she spoke, and she knew that she had to get out of this room as soon as possible.
"The tie is not for you to untie," the figure said, its voice rising in anger. "It holds secrets that are not meant for anyone but me." Emily could feel its menace as it spoke, and she knew that she had to do something to protect herself. She grasped the tie tightly in her hand and pulled it away from the ceiling, feeling its resistance as she did so. The figure let out a scream as the tie was pulled away from it, and Emily could feel its anger and frustration as it stumbled backwards out of the room. Emily ran out of the room as soon as she could, feeling the sun on her face as she left the village behind her. She knew that she had escaped from the locked room, but she also knew that there were still secrets that needed to be uncovered. She decided to return to the city and continue her research on ancient mysteries like this one.
