Giving a Tie to a Classmate
Last Friday, I gave a tie to my classmate, John. It was my first time to give someone a gift, so I was a little nervous about what he would think of it. I knew that the tie was not expensive, but I thought it was a small gesture that could make a big difference in our relationship.John was so surprised when I gave him the tie that he immediately put it on and looked at himself in the mirror. “I just wanted to make you smile,” I said. “I noticed you’ve been feeling a little down lately, and I thought this might cheer you up.”
Mark looked at the tie for a moment longer, then back at me with a grateful smile on his face. “Thank you,” he said. “This means a lot to me.”
That day, Mark wore the tie to school. He looked so handsome in it that all the girls were looking at him. He even got a few compliments from them. The next day, he came to school with a smile on his face and a spring in his step that I hadn’t seen in weeks.
The tie I gave him may have been small, but it made a big difference in Mark’s life. It brought a smile to his face and a spring to his step that I wish could last forever. Sometimes, the smallest things can have the biggest impact on someone’s life, and that’s what this tie did for Mark.
