I nodded, my mind racing to recall our previous conversation. "Yes, yes, of course. I'm sorry, I forget things easily. Let me just check with the tailor."
I ushered him into my study, offering him a chair while I dashed off to find my contact list. As soon as I found his number, I dialed and explained the situation to him. To my relief, he assured me that he would do everything in his power to expedite the delivery.
Returning to the young man's side, I offered him a cup of tea. "Please, make yourself at home. I apologize again for the delay."
He shook his head gratefully, taking the offer with a smile. "No need, thank you, Mr. Thompson. I appreciate your help."
Over the next few minutes, we chatted about various topics, including his business ventures and my own interests. He seemed like a genuinely nice person, which made me feel even more guilty for having caused him such inconvenience.
Finally, I mustered up enough courage to ask him about his reason for coming all the way to my doorstep. "Well, Mr. Thompson, the truth is that I'm not particularly skilled at making ties myself. But I want to learn. And I heard through the grapevine that you're one of the best in this town. So, when you said you were going to show me how to make a perfect tie, I thought I'd take advantage of this opportunity."
I was taken aback by his candor. "You know, I never really considered myself an expert at anything. Making ties is just a hobby of mine. But if it means helping someone learn something new and fulfilling their dream, then I'm happy to do it."
