I knew that this was my only option, so I handed the tie over to them. They worked on it for a few days, and then returned it to me. The repair job was good, but I could still see the evidence of the damage. The edge of the tie was no longer smooth; it was uneven and jagged.
I wore the tie for a while after the repair, but I could feel the edges getting uncomfortable again. It was like the tie was trying to tell me that it was done for good.
So here I am, looking at my favorite tie lying on the table in front of me. It has seen me through so many important times in my life, but now it's no longer wearable. I can't help but feel a little sad about it. But at the same time, I know that there are other ties out there that I could buy to replace it. And maybe one day, I'll find a new favorite tie that will take its place. But for now, I'll just have to deal with the fact that my favorite tie is no longer with me.
